Lauren and Robert – San Francisco
Marines’ Memorial Club & Hotel
Lauren and Robert were married in San Francisco’s Marines’ Memorial Club & Hotel, a stately venue nestled in between Union Square and Nob Hill.
For Lauren and Robert, they definitely wanted photos that reflected San Francisco as well as Robert’s service in the Armed Forces.
So, what we wound up doing was providing photographic coverage for:
- getting ready shots of the bride in her hotel room
- first viewing of the bride by the groom at his home in the Presidio
- wedding party portraits around some of the abandoned military buildings in the Presidio
- a special Tax Day “ceremony” — since they were getting married on April 15th
- ceremony
- portraits of family and friends
- portraits of just Lauren and Robert at the Marines’ Memorial Club’s impressive Library
- reception
Some of the notable details that remain in my mind to this day:
- Lauren’s “camouflage” garter
- the use of Robert’s ceremonial sabre for the cake-cutting
- Robert can really dance — he was cutting up the rug, as they say, to all types of songs: classic big band to latin, etc.
- Lauren and Robert’s mock sword “duel”, photos to which I took the liberty of adding my own touch — “geek-ified” I’d call it
Their wedding was certainly one that my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting, and the sample album we made remains one of our showcase pieces.
