Frankie Manning 2006 Workshop Weekend

Taking place over three days, the Frankie Manning 2006 Workshop Weekend featured three nights of live music, over a dozen local dance instructors, and of course, the legend himself, Frankie Manning. Dave Wong Photography was on hand to coverthis annual swing dance event.

Friday night marquee event was An Evening with Frankie. Held at the Ashkenaz Music and Dance Community Center, the full-house was treated to inspiring, insightful and humorous stories from Frankie about his youth when he danced with friends at the historic Savoy Ballroom in Harlem.

Following the talk was a dance party to Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillet Lickers, Frankie's favorite Bay Area band.

Saturday was a day of dance lessons held in a workshop format. Various Elective classes were offered in addition to the two primary classes taught by Frankie (with Catrine Ljunggren).

Saturday evening was the 4th Annual Shiny Stockings Swing Ball, featuring Cami and the Cosmopolitans. Frankie later even led the Shim Sham!

Sunday was another packed day. Workshop during the day, and a third night of dancing to LIVE music: Blues Tank
