Isn't Film better than Digital, or is Digital better than Film?
In the Old Days
Back in the late 1990's, when the first digital SLR's came out, they were basically prohibitively expensive, and had limited functionality in terms of image quality. So, yes film was better.
The operative word is "was".
Today's modern digital SLR's
Today, with technology that constantly improved at a maddening pace, one is hard pressed to tell the difference between prints shot in either format.
Today's digital SLR cameras not only produce images that (can) resolve higher than film, but exhibit low, low noise at high ISO's. Digital tools are available to the professional (and amateur) for extensive work in post-production, allowing the creation of truly artistic images.
Not Everyone can be a Shakespeare or Hemingway
That said, however, we must remember that nobody who sought to be good at writing asked Shakespeare, "What kind of bird feathers are your quills made of? What kind of ink do you use?" or ask Ernest Hemingway, "What paper do you use for your stories?"
What Really Matters
In the end, what has stood the test of time was actually what these writers wrote, not the tools they used to write with.
In our case, the client that selects Dave Wong Photography for their wedding or event is hiring us for our VISION, not for our cameras.
